“Jazz in China” and Other Articles

Marlow has been busy at work completing a book on jazz in China (working title: Jazz in the Land of the Dragon).  A portion of this work deals with the influence of technology on the spread of jazz in China.  This aspect of the story appears in the September/October issue of Chamber Music America Magazine

Global Music: Jazz in the Land of the Dragon: The music symbolizes freedom of expression. It arrived in China a century ago. And–if you don’t count Mao’s Cultural Revolution–it has been there ever since. – Eugene Marlow

Marlow’s article “When High Teaching Standards Show: High School Jazz Bands Perform At Jazz@ LincolnCenter” will appear in the September 2011 issue of JAZZed Magazine.

His article “Are We Externalizing Ourselves Out of Existence” appeared in the July 2011, pp. 316-320 issue of Etc, the journal of the Institute for General Semantics.
